Dedham has been a leader in sustainability and continues to show leadership through the creation of this plan which outlines over 60 actions to address climate change creating a more sustainable and resilient Dedham. Through the work of our Committee and the Town’s Environmental Department we are addressing and reducing our impact on the environment through the installation of solar panels on our schools, conversion of our streetlights to LED’s and the addition of renewable energy in our Community Choice Aggregation which again set Dedham apart as a leader, being only one of two communities in the state, at that time to make such a commitment.

The Sustainable Dedham Climate Action & Resiliency Plan is the culmination of a two-year public engagement process with funding from the EOEEA Municipal Vulnerability Preparedness Program (MVP). This plan was created by the community working alongside key stakeholders in town government, community groups, non-profits and local businesses and through a series of community engagement we created a plan that represents a diverse, inclusive and broad view of Dedham’s vision for a sustainable and resilient community. We approached this planning process through a lens of social equity and set it as a guiding principle throughout the development of this plan.

In addition to the Plan we are releasing a Sustainable Dedham video, a toolkit for local businesses and a dashboard. All of these documents can be found on the dashboard at https://sustainablededham.org and through the dashboard residents can track our progress with each initiative to continue the collaboration and transparency we have built throughout this process.

This plan is just the beginning and we look forward to working with you as we implement the key planning elements of this plan. We have set big goals and will need your support to achieve them.
