IMPORTANT:

  • If the Town does not receive payment and a hearing is not requested within 21 days, an additional $5 fee will be added and a Bill Statement will be generated.
  • If the bill remains unpaid for an additional 21 days, another $20 fee will be added, and the license and registration of the vehicle owner will be flagged for non-renewal at the Registry of Motor Vehicles.
Types of Parking Tickets

A parking violation letter will be issued and mailed directly to the vehicle owner (owner on file with the Registry of Motor Vehicles) when a meter violation has been recorded. A white parking ticket from the meter will not be placed on the vehicle. Meter violations include:

  • Unpaid parking session
  • Posted time limit exceeded

An orange handwritten ticket or white printed ticket is issued by a member of the Police Department if the operator of the vehicle has been observed to be in violation of one or more of the following violations:

  • Parking within a fire lane
  • Parking within 10 feet of a hydrant
  • Obstructing a driveway
  • Parking within 20 feet of an intersection
  • Snow removal
  • Meter violation (eg. unpaid parking session, posted time limit exceeded)
  • Parking in a restricted or prohibited area
  • Parking facing the wrong direction
  • Obstructing a crosswalk
  • Obstructing a sidewalk
  • Winter parking rules/ban
  • Parking within a bus stop or taxi stand
  • Double parking
  • Handicapped parking space
  • Blocking handicapped ramp
  • Commercial vehicle (2 1/2 tons or more) parked in residential area
