Note: A parking ticket must be paid or disputed within 21 days of the date issued (as shown on ticket) to avoid late penalties. If you feel a parking ticket was issued in error, you may file a dispute using the instructions below for each type of ticket.
How to Appeal a Parking Ticket:
If you believe a parking ticket was issued to you in error and you would like to appeal the ticket, please submit the following information in writing:
- Your name and preferred contact information
- Ticket Number
- Vehicle Plate Number
- Documentation of evidence the violation was issued in error
Submit via Email: Please submit your information to parking@dedham-ma.gov. Please include the ticket number along with any evidence that you like the Town of Dedham Parking Hearings officer to consider as to why this ticket should not have been issued.
Submit via Mail: Mail your parking appeal and documentation to:

Upon receipt of appeal, the Parking Hearing Officer will review the information and contact you directly with a decision. The following decisions may be made:
- Dismiss the Ticket: No fine is issued and the ticket has been dismissed.
- Attend a Public Hearing: If you would like your appeal to be heard in-person by the Parking Hearing Officer, please come to the next scheduled Parking Hearing at the Dedham Town Hall (Room 305), 450 Washington Street, between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 12 noon. For upcoming dates, please contact the Police Department at 781-751-9245.
- The hearings are held on a first come, first served basis.
- Please be prepared to provide the following information:
- Explanation you believe the ticket was issued in error
- Documentation of evidence the violation was issued in error
- Note: Failure to appear before the Parking Hearing Officer on the scheduled date and time will result in a denial of your appeal and associated late fees will be added to the violation.
