The Open House, sponsored by Papa Gino's, is aimed at teaching fire safety and prevention practices to families. Firefighters will demonstrate the "stop, drop, and roll" method, teach adults to plan escape routes out of their home, and how to safely crawl through a smoke-filled room.
Safety tip handouts - on smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors, for example - will be available throughout the Open House. In addition, Papa Gino's will provide free pizza and children's fire safety coloring sheets.
"The Dedham Fire Department puts in a large number of outreach hours during the month of October," Chief Spillane said. "We encourage all local families to stop by our Open House and talk to your children about what to do if a fire ever affects your home."
